Indivisible Baltimore County Relocates “No Kings 2.0” Rally in Solidarity with Students

TOWSON, MD — Indivisible Baltimore County announced today that the starting location for the No Kings 2.0 rally on Saturday, October 18 will move off Towson University campus grounds, following concerns raised by Towson University students and student organizations about the university’s handling of the event.

A permit is pending for Riderwood Hills Park (910 Kenilworth Ave, Towson) from 1:00–4:00 PM. Baltimore County Parks & Recreation has been cooperative and supportive in ensuring that the community can safely exercise its First Amendment rights.

Student organizers expressed concern that the university was treating the pro-democracy rally as an entertainment event rather than protected political speech, instituting restrictions such as cordoning off participants with barriers. Organizers were also informed that federal law enforcement officials under the Trump-controlled administration would be running speaker names through federal databases.

These actions have raised serious concerns for student safety and freedom of expression on campus — at a time when democracy itself is under attack.

“Indivisible Baltimore County stands with Towson University students in asserting their constitutional right to free speech and peaceful assembly. Policies that create the perception of surveillance or intimidation have no place in a democratic society.

We value and respect the student voice in the fight against authoritarianism — and we will not allow fear to silence civic participation.”

Indivisible Baltimore County encourages Towson University students, staff, and faculty, as well as community members across Baltimore County, to join in solidarity as we lift our voices for First Amendment rights and stand with communities under threat.

If the Riderwood Hills Park permit is not approved, the backup plan will be a sign wave near Kenilworth Avenue at the Charles Street overpass over I-695. For convenient drop-off near the park, please consider utilizing the Towson Circulator. Parking is available in the Kenilworth lot adjacent to the park and on nearby residential streets.
